Update - Team England through to the finals

Hurricane Ophelia has created some quality conditions at Nags Head.
England are officially through to the finals with Basque (Euskadi) and US West. Us East narrowly eliminated on a tie break. Now its back to zero and we need to keep the momentum and quality going to retain our championship crown.
In the individuals, many of our riders are through to the semis so more gold is on the cards!

Pictures From Day 1

The surf on day one was a tad on the small side but the surfing was still very impressive. Day one saw the first round of the team event which the England team totally dominated.

Some pics from the day shot by myself (apart from the one photo of Pete Blenkinsop which was shot by Dylan) can be found at https://picasaweb.google.com/100258949199378919434/WorldChampionshipsDay1

Denzil

My first world chamionships - so far

Despite me and others having some boat issues - all's well that ends well
appart form Denzial's boat, that ended well as james H is around to fix things
but that kayak is not 'well'
England has been ripping and have taken the lead in the first round of competition
and with round two commencing later today or tomorow things should start to get exciting
I cant wait for my first heat to get stuck into some serious comptition
Go England!

6 o'clock in the morning, I need something to wake me up.......

Arrived yesterday, one of the first to get here. Pretty stormy and the swell is a couple of foot..... Still the waves are punchy and there's plenty sandbars to choose from. Couple of sessions, a fun couple a hours outside the apartments 5 miles north of the comp with joey hall, Anth'nee bell (us east locals), Galen, Tyler, Kate from us west, and the current world champ David speller. In the afternoon we checked the contest site and as we drove through the parking lot, we spotted a competitor at the hurley pro pull into a sweet little barrel. Those guys packed up last night so I guess we can start to surf the contest spot now. Late in the evening speller and I picked up buck johnson and we headed to nags head fishing pier where there were some class chest-shoulder walls as the sunset. 6 o'clock in the morning and the little peak just south of our apartment is throwing rights lit by lightning storms way out in the Atlantic. There are waves here, and they've got some juice! Quite a few people start to arrive now, things are gonna hot up. Rooming with joey we're also getting an idea of the massive amount of work going into this from him and his team (he and Paul scrutton were planning the opening party way into the night, long after we were sound asleep). Let's hope the swell continues to look good for the contest, to give them the success they deserve. Marc
